Sosua Beach is considered one of the most important beaches of the Puerto Plata region. This pristine beach is the ideal escape from everyday life, into a blissful Caribbean paradise. This beach spans about a mile West to East, facing the Atlantic Ocean. The beach itself is part of a bay of the same name, which protects the marine life and corals.
Snorkeling is one of the highlights of the catamaran or yacht charters, due to the variety of locations where guests can get into the water and interact with the tropical fish species; Expect to find Yellow tail snapper, Sergeant major, Parrot fish, butterfly fish, sea horses, Blue Tang, Grunts, Chromis, sea turtles, Drumfish, dolphins and even nearby whales on migration months. See a complete list in the Sosua beach marine life page.
The beach has many restaurants and bars along its shores, as varied as its population itself. Canadian, American, Jamaican, Swiss, Italian, and many other nationalities from retirees that came to visit and stayed. Among the best we can mention Montanara, Mofongo King, Tree House, Jorge`s, and Cathy et Rémy.
Sosua bay is the launch point of many catamaran and yacht party groups that book private charters to sail and party along the coastal waters and beaches of the North Coast, including those servicing the Playa Dorada area. Puerto Plata private catamaran tours are in high demand, specially on weekends. The capacity of those boats can be from 20 to 50 people at at time.
